The medieval history of the Middle East, the Mediterranean and Inner Asia, mainly: the Turks and Mongols; the Mamluk Sultanate; the Mongols in the Islamic World; the Crusades and Muslim responses; military history; conversion; late medieval Arabic epigraphy; Palestine in the medieval period.
